PostgreSQL DBA & Site Reliability Engineer (Hub88)
Our Hub88 Infrastructure team is growing, and we are looking for a PostgreSQL DBA & SRE to make an even bigger difference from the inside.
Your day-to-day
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain PostgreSQL databases in production and development environments.
- Monitor database and system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations for high availability and scalability.
- Design and automate backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Develop scripts, tools, and infrastructure-as-code to automate routine database and operational tasks.
- Implement observability best practices (monitoring, alerting, logging, tracing) for database systems and related services.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on schema design, query optimization, and capacity planning.
- Ensure security and compliance with policies (user management, access control, data encryption).
- Lead incident response and participate in on-call rotations, including root cause analysis and postmortems.
- Contribute to CI/CD workflows for database changes, schema migrations, and releases.
- Document database configurations, operational processes, and reliability improvements.
- Mentor team members and promote a culture of reliability, automation, and continuous improvement.
Your background and mindset
- 5+ years hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA, including performance tuning, replication, clustering, and high availability.
- Experience running PostgreSQL in cloud environments (AWS RDS/Aurora, Google Cloud SQL, etc.).
- Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL, with knowledge of query optimization and indexing strategies.
- Familiarity with additional database technologies (MySQL, MongoDB, Clickhouse, Redis) is a plus.
- Proficiency with Linux/Unix systems and scripting/programming languages (Python, Bash, Go preferred).
- Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS).
- Hands-on with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
- Strong background in monitoring/observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, etc.).
- Solid understanding of system reliability principles (SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, error budgets).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Previous experience in high-availability or high-traffic environments (iGaming experience is a plus).
- Excellent verbal and written English communication.
